Janet Moldstad , Ph.D

     Bethany Lutheran College

Janet Moldstad serves as the Glen Taylor Chair for Business and Leadership at Bethany Lutheran College. She has also held positions at Fingerhut Companies in management and at the University of Minnesota’s Strategic Management Research Center as a research fellow. Her interests include leadership development, strategic planning and implementation, organizational change and direct marketing. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Management from Walden University, an MBA in Strategy and Organization from the University of Minnesota, and a BA in Mathematics from St. Olaf College.

Scott D. Johnson, Ph.D

Minnesota State University

Scott D. Johnson, Ph.D. is Professor of Marketing and Dean of the College of Business at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The College of Business has 50 full time faculty members, 12 adjunct professors, 9 full time staff members, approximately 2,000 students, and a budget of approximately $7 million. The COB offers a technology enhanced curriculum where students and faculty operate in a wireless laptop environment. Recent initiatives in the College of Business include: re launching of the MBA program, revision of admission standards, expansion of full text online resources, creating a Wall Street Journal Academic Partnership program, expansion of international study programs, launching of a college integrated marketing communication strategy, creation of a new strategic plan for 2004-2007, implementation of a transparent digital working environment for college documents and services, and enhanced support for faculty research. In 2004, the COB was received the Excellence of Curriculum Planning Award from the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU). Prior to joining the College of Business at Minnesota State University, Mankato, Dean Johnson was Department Chair for the Department of Marketing at the University of Louisville.

Dr. Johnson holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from Michigan State University, an MBA from the Carlson School of Management (University of Minnesota), and a BA with a double major in Philosophy and German from the University of Minnesota. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Gamma Sigma. Dr. Johnson has taught MBA courses domestically and in Athens and Hong Kong. Most recently he taught a new course in the MBA program at Minnesota State Mankato entitled Executive Seminar. He has taught undergraduate courses in E-Retailing, Retailing, Principles of Marketing, Services Marketing, and Marketing Management. Research interests include complex consumer decision-making within the services industry, the simulated marketing environment, and pedagogical issues in business education. He has published in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Marketing Education Review, Journal of Strategic Change, Journal of Education for Business, and The International Executive. He has given many presentations to both academic audiences and business executives on topics such as "What is Driving Organizational Change in Business Schools?," "Secrets of Customer Satisfaction," and "Marketing for the Tech Entrepreneur." Dr. Johnson is currently section editor in the Marketing Education Review and is a member of the editorial review board of the Journal of Consumer Marketing.

Dr. Johnson currently serves on the board of directors for the State of Minnesota Combined Charities. His is planning to serve as the Mankato United Way Campaign Chair for 2007. He has worked as a consultant to both academic institutions and businesses in areas of marketing research, data mining, trademark dilution, and qualitative image studies. He is married and has 4 children.

Richard Young, Ph.D

Minnesota State University

1963 graduate of US Military Academy, MBA University of St. Thomas; served in Europe and Vietnam as an artillery officer. Wife is Austrian and presently two daughters live and work in Vienna. 35 years of industry experience with IBM (sales), Coopers & Lybrand (IT consulting) and Emerson, Rosemount Division (management positions: IT, global distribution, global quality, global operations). Teach international business and marketing in COB (since 2003). Have taught MBA international operations management classes for the University of St. Thomas and St. Mary's. Travelled extensively in Europe & Asia Pacific.

Tony Filipovitch, Ph.D

Minnesota State University

Tony Filipovitch is chair of the Urban & Regional Studies Institute at MSU and has taught at the University for 30 years. He also served for 5 years as Dean of Graduate Studies & Research. He has facilitated groups, including the Leadership Team at ISJ - Mayo Health System, local government council retreats (Mankato, Blue Earth County, and Region Nine), the Waseca Renewable Fuels Task Force, and the Mankato Area Growth Management and Planning Study (MAGMAPS). He is a past chair of the Region Nine Arts Advisory Council and the Mankato Area Foundation, and served on the boards of the Mankato YMCA and Citizens' Voices. He is a member of the Envision 2020 Steering Committee, past member of the Chamber's Public Policy Development Division, and the Leadership Mankato Area program (alumnus, instructor and day chair). His Ph.D is in Urban Studies from Portland State University (Oregon), and his BA and MA are in Pscyhology from the University of Michigan and Duquesne University (Pittsburgh).

Robert Hoffman, Ph.D

Minnesota State University

Robert Hoffman is Vice President of Strategic Business, Education and Regional Partnerships. He is responsible for leading the University in initiating, developing, and coordinating strategic institutional groups throughout the nation to enhance economic development, research, and cooperative venues.

Bob was with Taylor Corporation for more than 18 years in a variety of executive roles, serving most recently as vice president with responsiblity for assisting companies with direct sales strategy and initiatives. In this role, he developed key relationships within the executive level of major Fortune 100 companies. Before joining Taylor Corporation, he was senior vice president for sales and marketing with Brown Printing Company, Waseca, Minn.

He earned a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in secondary school administration from Minnesota State Mankato, and a doctor of education from Utah State University.

Bob served as a member of the Board of Trustees Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, including two years as chair of the board.

    Dan Sachau, Ph.D

Minnesota State University

Dan Sachau, Ph.D. is the Director of the Graduate Program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology Program at Minnesota State University. This program was recently named the #1 I/O Psychology master’s program in the nation. In addition, Dan is the Director of the Organizational Effectiveness Research Group at Minnesota State. The OERG provide HR consulting service to a wide variety of local and regional organizations. Before coming to MSU, Dr. Sachau served as Assistant to Frederick Herzberg at the University of Utah. Dan’s research interests include motivation and job satisfaction.

Brenda Flannery, Ph.D

Minnesota State University

Brenda Flannery is Assistant Vice President for Undergraduate Studies and International Education at MSU. Prior to her appointment, she was an Associate Professor of Management, teaching courses in Management, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Strategic Management. Her research and publications have been in the areas of service-learning, environmental management, and creative leadership. She also taught as a visiting professor at the Technologico de Monterrey, Guanajuato, Mexico, and the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
